Fancy for once || Le Hide, Paris

On the 22nd of December, we went to Paris. On the 23rd we thought; “hey let’s eat something real french and a bit fancy!” Now that I think of it, why didn’t we did this on the first Christmass day? But I’m still glad that we did this once.

I never really go to a fancy restaurant, I think I only did that twice(?) And I also just don’t really think of it. I just like simple dishes as long as it’s tasty.

After a long day of walking in Paris, capturing everything you see on the streets, the typical things tourists goes for and of course after the shopping. We planned to eat at Le Hide. The night before I looked around the net where we could eat in the neighbour of The Eiffel tower and Champs- Elysees.

It was a tiny tiny restaurant and I think it’s better to make a reservation first, but we were lucky that there were still a table for 2 left. 🙂

We took a 3-course menu just for 34 euros per person.

The first dish I had was a lobster with pumpkinsoup and a sort of spiced cake. I never had pumpkin soup before, my sister always tell me about it. So I thought let’s just try it out. I trust my sister’s tastebuds.

As for him he had the snails. I didn’t dare to try it but to be honest it did looked nice. Oh and we didn’t took any pictures of his dishes..he had a bit of bad lighting..

And the second dish I had was a filet of a seabags with mashed potato and a carrot crunch? And there were also some vegetable which I still don’t know what it was. But I liked it, a lot. And everything was coated with a sour white cream(?)

And for him it was a steak dish.

And lastly, the desert. Here we have a cup of espresso which I wasn’t allowed to drink.. We all know what happens when I drink coffee.. There was also a creme brûlée with a hint of orange, I didn’t really like the orange flavour in it but it was still nice. Then we had a peer sorbet which I love. And a chocolate mouse.

We also had a glass of white wine, I asked for a very very sweet one and it was pretty good. I think I should remember the names more, but everything was in french so yea..

The staff were very nice and helpful. Next time when I’m in Paris, I would definitely pay a visit again!

Marc Jacobs cafe || Travel

It’s already been a few months since I visited Milan. And when I was there, I came across something I never heard of and I thought that I was just dreaming, but I wasn’t! Just next to the Marc Jacobs store, there was a cafe. The store and the cafe is made of glass, so you can see the cafe from the store and I believe that there were also a door. And of course you could see the store from the cafe too. But who doesn’t want a cup of coffee or a sandwich from Marc Jacobs? And besides that, the waiter is dressed nicely and clean. (well every waiter is but something about them looked different than you are used to see. Or they were just good-looking.)

The coffee wasn’t very special but sometimes it’s fun and random to drink or eat something in one of your favorite designer brand cafe or restaurant. And besides, that whole neighbor is very nice.

The season of corn.

Randomly in the middle of the city, there was a little garden? A garden of corn. At the time when I visited Milan, they were busy with the Milan expo. And at the gate there was this little garden. Isn’t it cute?

My new favorite place to walk || Quay-side, Newcastle Upon Tyne

TRAVELI love walking at watersides or just any place where no one knows me. I’m a sucker for places with good views, but who doesn’t? I like places where you can listen to your music without hearing someone screaming or talking loud near you. Just quiet places. Or just a place where you can sit with your friend and talk about everything and anything about life and future or just talking about good memories.

Here in Amsterdam we have a lot of canals. I love them but it’s not a place I want to be when I’m alone. It’s noisy during summer and cold during the winter. You just have to find the right place to sit.

If I lived in Newcastle then I would be here every night. And on sunday’s I would go to the market every morning. During day time you get a different feeling then during the night time. Both of them are nice but I have to say I like it more during the night time.

We used 2 different camera’s, it is a bit confusing for me and I think for you guys too. I don’t even remember what I snapped or what my friend snapped. But I still hope you like it!

Oh my, when you walk under the bridge where the birds are hanging out. You won’t like it, but it smells so bad.

After a day of shopping and walking, we wanted to snap some photos at night of the millennium bridge. We saw that sun was about to go down and what did we do? We ran out the hotel as soon as we saw that. And guess what? It was raining! But the rain wasn’t that bad. And what comes after rain when the sun was shining?

That’s right, a double rainbow. Okay here’s a fun little random story I want to share with you. As we were waiting for the lights of the bridge and shelter from the rain at a bus stop. There was a group of old chinese people. I couldn’t understand what they were saying because they were talking Wenzhou? But  suddenly they got all excited and were looking at the sky. We couldn’t see anything because of the bus stop and thought “Are they excited because of a bird or something?” And then we saw the rainbow! I’m not gonna lie, sometimes it feels like I belong in a group of asian tourists, even here in Amsterdam..

I love reflections in water.

As we were waiting, we were just sitting and talking till it was dark enough for the lights. I’m a person who doesn’t talk that much but when I feel comfortable with someone I can talk and talk and talk. But unfortunately, that doesn’t happen that much in my life.
